A friend of mine yesterday told me a girl he attedns university with is ‘betrothed’ to a boy whose dowry requirement is $45,000 that she will never get until he is dead. That could be a very cheap prostitute indeed when you consider the effect of inflation. I do not know if the money is guaranteed in a real manner either. It revolts me so much that I don’t even care to notcie.
